Transported to those times

Felt utterly transported back to the olden times. I was reminded of my mother who loved to tell these stories to me. These books will take you more deep than you have ever gone. And you will understand all the nuances properly because the author takes the pains to explain them to you. Also I thought the way he adapts the age-old wisdom and philosophy to challenges we face in our modern daily lives...that is commendable. A few places where I disagreed with him here and there, but nothing too major. Author is clearly someone who has done a deep study of the Mahabharata. He is not some guy looking to exploit the mythology craze.

If you have any interest in Indian history and mythology, try it.

Husband loves these!

I'm the Mahabharata-lover in the family. I usually love all books on the topic. But when I see my husband pick up a book and praise it, I know it is good! :-D

Genuine and Easy

Pros: Comprehensive, easy to read, well-researched, genuine. Easy to buy, easy to download, easy to read. You don't need an internet connection to read these books. You can just download them onto your device and read them whenever you want.

Cons: Too long, sometimes too boring, occasionally the author inserts himself into the discussion when not warranted, character guides contradict themselves, the Shanti and Anushasana Parvas are almost never-ending; I skim-read most of these parts.

Despite everything, there is the 30 Day Money Back Guarantee. That's plenty of time to decide if you like the books or not. I don't *love* them, but I don't hate them enough to ask for a refund.

Somewhere in between. 3 stars.

Good Odds!

I got these books a couple of months ago and have been reading them regularly. I read some of the reviews here before posting mine. I thought I will address the most common concerns that a reader might have before they give this a go.

First of all, this is easily the most comprehensive Mahabharata book set you will find on the market - at any price. This is just a statement of fact. There are 52 books, 7 bonuses. So in totaly, we're talking in excess of 6000 pages of written material. All written by one person, presumably over a period of years.

Second, the language is accessible and not overly pedantic. Many researchers in this space take themselves too seriously, and get lost in the weeds of one small detail or another. They do not appreciate that the average reader wants to learn the story's intricacies - not whether Draupadi really loved Arjuna or not (something no one can tell for certain).

Third, the structure of the books is well-thought-out. You start with the Essentials, move on to the character guides, and then tackle the reader. Doing this in this order will give you the best experience. But of course, you're welcome to do it however you want. The chapters are structured such that a busy person can read in, and virtually everyone over the age of 18 can read it without any problem.

Now, you may still not like these books. But the author covers for that alternative and offers you a full 30 Day Money Back Guarantee. On eBooks that you download onto your device. So essentially you keep the books for free if you don't like them. I don't know about you, but even Amazon takes the eBook license back after it gives you a refund. Here, Sharath is not even doing that.

With such great odds in your favour, why would you not at least give these books a try? I suggest you do. You will be in for a treat.
